I am a firm believer in goal setting as in my opinion it is the road map to your final destination. I’m sure that you have all heard the quote “The shortest distance between two points is a straight line”. This could not be truer when you prepare to map out your thirty, sixty, or ninety day plan for weight loss. You are sitting here at point A and you know what you don’t want so now you need to map out what steps you need to do in order to get to point B and simply follow them. It starts with the way we eat.

Once we hit a certain age it doesn’t seem to matter how much cardio, or exercise we do, those extra pounds just do not want to budge. So what can we do? We raid our fridge and cabinets and toss all those delicious things that we bought while we were being naughty out. I kid when I say delicious the truth is that it is absolute garbage and it is imperative for you to remove them from your house (no finishing off that pie, candy, cereal doesn’t count as removal) as soon as possible if you are truly going to drop those lbs.

I’d recommend that you start a cleanse if you will and give your body time to de-tox before you begin a workout regimen. You must prove to yourself that you can break your old eating habits and start eating healthy.<–Great read on foods that promote weight loss.

The truth of it is this; nutrition is king when it comes to losing and keeping off excess body fat. You can work out till your blue in the face but if you have a poor diet it will eventually catch up to you. When you mix in a balanced diet full of fresh fruits, veggies, organic farm raised meats, and organic dairy products. You will begin to notice a change in the way you feel, your energy levels will be up and you will begin to feel like a new person.
After your energy levels are up it’s time to train your body. If you are a tad bit on the heavy side, I would recommend starting out with light cardio (walking, bike riding etc.) coupled with body weight workouts (pushups, lunges, mountain climbers, etc.). The key is to have your muscles become mobile again before you begin to add weights, you do not want to injure yourself in your first week of training.

Remember that your body is like a vehicle and you will need to continually change certain aspects of your eating and training habits to see constant results.
